Little Miss Lumbee 2012-2013
Liliana Locklear

Hi everyone, I am your 2012-2013 Little Miss Lumbee, Liliana Jade Locklear. I am the 5 year old daughter of Christopher and Jada Locklear of Pembroke, NC. I am also the proud big sissy of Miss Madalynn Kris Locklear. This year, I will be starting Kindergarten which I am very excited about.  This title would not have been possible without a lot of people who loved and supported me on my journey to be your Little Miss Lumbee. First, I would like to thank Jesus Christ for giving me the ability and opportunity to be in the pageant. I would also like to thank everyone who didn’t stop believing in me, even when I broke my arm 3 weeks before the pageant, sorry mom! This year has already been amazing, thanks to three special girls and their families. Ciena, Kayla, and Courtney I believe that God put us all together for a special reason, you girls are amazing and I couldn’t ask for better sisters.

I have learned so much about my culture from my mentor Mrs. Millicent Clark, and from attending powwows all across the state. I can’t wait to share my culture and knowledge with other people. My platform this year will be “Connecting Generations”, Not only do us as young people need to visit our elders and learn from them; also our caring adults and elders need to be in the lives of our young people.  You would be surprised what you can learn from a little child like me. My goal is encourage other children to chase their dreams no matter their circumstances.

I’m sure this year will be amazing, and I will do everything in my power as a 5 year old to represent my Lumbee people with dignity and grace. Please keep me in your prayers and continue to support me in my journey this year as your Little Miss Lumbee!

Thank You,

Liliana Jade Locklear
