Honored, Humbled, Amazing are the words that come to mind as I recall the night that I was crowned Junior Miss Lumbee 2010-2011. First I would like to give my Heavenly Father all the Praise and Glory for His Love, Mercy and Grace; without His Will this would have not happened.

          I am Erika Lyndsey Locklear. My parents are Eric and Karen Locklear and we reside in the Saddletree Community. I am thirteen years old and a ninth-grader at Village Christian Academy. My siblings include two brothers, Ethan Fuller & Kaden, and one sweet baby sister, Kara Delora. My Grandparents are the late Fuller & Delora Locklear and my loving and patient Grandmother Ruth, who also lives in the Saddletree Community. My family attends Bethel Hill Baptist Church.

          I have many hobbies and pastimes; however, at the top of my list is tap dancing. I love the sounds of my shoes as they touch the floor. Through these shoes I can express my feelings and they always put me in a happy mood. I also like jazz and lyrical dancing. My bags are packed and ready for a great road trip. Traveling to new places is such an exciting adventure and you never know who you may meet along the way.  Keeping in touch with my BFFs is a must and texting is a great substitute when I cannot hang out with them in person.   My favorite actor is definitely Taylor Lautner and Justin B. is my number one singer. 
         

I am so blessed to have my sister ambassadors to share this exciting year with and the bond we have feels as if we have always known each other. We have already made quite a few appearances together.  I know that this is just the beginning of a year that will influence my life forever. I am looking forward to this journey that will allow me to represent my people and showcase our culture throughout the state and nation. Please keep us in your hearts and prayers as we dedicate 2010 – 2011 to all of you, the Lumbee Tribe.
